Burnout: from Psychology to Politics, with Izabella Lukacs and Miriana Jivici

11 December, 18:30–20:00 · Indecis artist run, Bastion 3, Timișoara

Burnout is experienced in the body, but its causes do not always begin or end there. The conditions in which we work, the pace we are expected to keep, professional relationships and the lack of meaningful forms of protection make exhaustion both a personal experience and a question of how work itself is organised.

Together with Izabella Lukacs, journalist and correspondent for Hacking Work, and Miriana Jivici, psychotherapist, we will look at how burnout is understood in Romania today — from individual experience and mental health to employers’ responsibilities and ongoing attempts to develop a legal framework for preventing professional burnout.

Hacking Work is a social, civic and educational project focused on the labour market and the relationship between employees and employers in Romania. Among the issues it consistently brings into public discussion are workplace anxiety and professional burnout.

Izabella Lukacs is a copywriter and content writer and part of the teams behind Hacking Work and PozitiVești, where she coordinates editorial content, writes newsletters and articles, and conducts interviews. Alongside this work, she develops independent editorial projects, including CooltCluj and Coolturalist.

Miriana Jivici is a cognitive-behavioural psychotherapist and clinical psychologist, working in Timișoara and online. Her practice places particular emphasis on human connection and on creating a safe space in which difficult experiences can be approached with greater clarity and understanding.

Burnout: From Psychology to Politics is part of the mediation programme accompanying TIRED MASS, developed around three forms of labour — physical, intellectual and emotional — and the ways in which they shape our everyday lives.
