Workshop ✷ 21.09, 17:00, Indecis artist run, Bastion 3, Timișoara
Many of your favorite clothes carry, without you even realizing, the marks of a “hidden life” embedded in the materials they’re made of. Over time, these fabrics have been transformed by entities such as bacteria, mold, and moths, leaving behind stains, holes, and tears. In our modern society, such imperfections are often viewed negatively, leading to garments being discarded as irreparable.
But what if we could extend the life of these materials? How can we shift our perspective and what creative approaches can we develop to make them wearable and culturally acceptable again?
Join us for a different kind of textile workshop, where you’ll have the chance to explore alternative ways to breathe new life into old garments that have accumulated the patina of time. You’ll learn to combine techniques like embroidery, embellishment with beads and sequins, or dyeing fabrics using the traditional Japanese Shibori method, with natural Indigo pigment.

Dinu Bodiciu, a fashion designer from Timișoara, studied fashion design at the London College of Fashion and is currently pursuing his PhD there. As an associate professor at the Fashion Department of the Faculty of Arts and Design at West University of Timișoara, Dinu has taught in various countries, including the UK, Sweden, and Singapore, where he led the fashion program at Lasalle College of the Arts. These experiences have given him a deep understanding of materials, cultural values of textiles, and the importance of sustainability in fashion.
Dinu’s practice focuses on creating a symbiotic relationship between garments, the body, and other living entities, from bacteria and fungi to plants and insects. In his “made with time” collection, he incorporates the marks of wear and aging on recycled textiles, transforming them into new products: the conventional pattern of the Japanese sukajan jacket, the Hawaiian aloha shirt, or the Western corset.
